The Trail of Living Witnesses (Walking Tour)

October 7 @ 1:00 pm

Robert Christopher and PAZA, Tree of Life, will present a tour of trees in the cemetery and the stories the trees tell.

As the tour begins, take in a few moments of flute music along with soft drumming from the Paza team as we approach each Living Witness. At each tree Rob will briefly describe the tree, its common and botanical names, the tree’s age, and mention a significant fact about each tree. Bob Wood, from PAZA, will explain a historical Native American event that would have occurred sometime around the age of each tree, and provide historical accounts from different cultures including indigenous Americans around the time each tree started to grow.
Flute music will be played quietly in the background. One of Paza’s members, Robert McComas-Wood, will read about Historical Native American events. As we commence at each tree, participants will be provided sacred tobacco and will leave an offering for the tree and those Native American Ancestors associated with the reading.

This walking tour will include 12 unique trees and take about 60-90 minutes. Reservations required; suggested donation of $10.
