History Walk at HMP

Get Your Tail on the Trail will be offering a free, trail walking program this year. Add any or all of these walks to your exercise repertoire to meet new people, learn new things, and experience different areas of the D&L trail.

This sign up is for our Heritage Walk series that always takes place on the first Sunday of the month at 1 pm at Hugh Moore Park. There are two topics for these walks. Please see the description of each walk and its schedule below:

HMP History Walk: River & Canal -Discover Hugh Moore Park’s fascinating past along the Lehigh River and Canal, highlighting how it helped to spur America’s Industrial Revolution. Participants will learn about the park’s flora and fauna, the locktender’s house, and Island Park. These walks will take place in April, June, August, and October.

HMP History Walk: Industry & Iron – Discover Hugh Moore Park’s fascinating past while exploring its industrial ruins. Participants will learn about the Lucy Furnace and Glendon Iron Works, the Abbott Street industrial complex, and telegraph communications. These walks will take place in May, July, September, and November.
