CREATE Resilience Community Murals Reveal and Forum

November 4 @ 6:30 pm 8:00 pm

Nurture Nature Center has been leading a four-year project called “CREATE Resilience” – a multi-disciplinary collaboration designed to engage the youth and communities of Easton, Wilson and Bangor Area School Districts in activities that increase knowledge of weather and climate science, the risks from local hazards, and strategies for hazard mitigation, while engaging with the community to co-create a vision for community resilience.

Public discussions, workshops, hazard and resiliency community tours, and interviews with municipal and community leaders over the past two years have informed a shared vision of community resiliency that is communicated through murals created by three artists – Jackie Lima (Easton); Don Wilson (Wilson); and James Gloria (Bangor) – to be a lasting reminder of key elements of community resilience identified by the public.

This event will reveal each of the three murals virtually and include interviews with each of the artists, and then invite participants to engage with us about the community vision of resilience. Participants can view the murals in-person within their community after the event and provide feedback throughout the fall.

The first 50 participants who attend the forum and complete the follow-up survey will receive a $40 e-gift card for their time.
